Ok, I like buffets, but when I go, I only take what I'm gonna eat. Do any of you go to a buffet, and fill up purses, pockets, and whatever else 'for later' ? My Mom usually grabs a dinner roll or something like that and wraps it up to bring to my house for my dog. I have seen people grab chicken wings and fill coat pockets with them before leaving. Also, if someone pays for a buffet and takes 'extras for later', is that stealing?

Re: to buffet or not to buffet?
Wed, August 16, 2006 - 10:11 AMI go back and forth on buffets. What I don't like is that you pay the same no matter how much food you eat. I really don't think that I can eat $10 worth of food in one sitting (as opposed to a regular meal that you pay $10 for and take home the extras for another meal). Usually when I go, it's with a group of people and the decision is out of my hands.
Personally, I think loading up on food is tacky. A dinner roll or something else that is already at your table (and thus, hopefully, thrown away after you leave) is one thing, but I've seen people fill up plates at the buffet only to have the plate be mysteriously empty a couple of minutes later (I mostly notice this with the doughnuts at the Chinese buffet).

Usually they won't let you take a "doggie-bag" out of those places.

Thu, October 5, 2006 - 3:13 PMWell, this is what I do. have you seen those waistcoats hunters and fishermen wear??? Before heading off for the all you can ea 'till you're sick chinese, I put on aformentioned jacket, placing icepacks in the deep pockets.carefully and serupticiously, place food itmes, chilli parwns, chicken kebabs etc into pre chilled receptacles.Word of caution, liquid items, for example, hot and sour soup are not to be advised as leakage can be a problem.Invite neighbours over for dinner the following evening. Nuke stashed foodstuffs and at the same time bang a couple of pots together and cry " won't be long, just julliening the galangal and bruising my kaffir lime leaves" Present your " home cooked " meal to the dinner guests and enjoy the good wine they have so generously brought with them. Bon Apetite!!! -
